Anxiety
What is Anxiety
Anxiety is one of the most common mental health experiences in Australia, affecting around one in four people at some point in their lives. It goes beyond everyday worry or stress. When anxiety becomes persistent, disproportionate to the situation, or begins to interfere with work, relationships or daily functioning, it may be time to seek support.
Anxiety presents differently for everyone. For some it feels like a constant hum of dread or unease. For others it shows up as physical symptoms including racing heart, shallow breathing, tension, or sleep disruption without an obvious trigger. Panic attacks, social anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, and health anxiety are all forms of the same underlying experience: a nervous system that has learned to perceive threats where there may be none.

How we can help
Our psychologists use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based interventions to help you understand the patterns driving your anxiety and develop practical tools to manage it. For clients who choose to, our VR neurofeedback regulation sessions offer a complementary way to work directly with nervous system activation between psychology appointments.
